Symmetric Orthogonal Polynomials and the Associated Orthogonal L-polynomials
We show how symmetric orthogonal polynomials can be linked to polynomials associated with certain orthogonal L-polynomials. We provide some examples to illustrate the results obtained. Finally as an application, we derive information regarding the orthogonal polynomials associated with the weight function (1 + kx2)(l x2)~1/2, k>0.
متن کاملOrthogonal polynomials with discontinuous weights
Abstract. In this paper we present a brief description of a ladder operator formalism applied to orthogonal polynomials with discontinuous weights. The two coefficient functions, An(z) and Bn(z), appearing in the ladder operators satisfy the two fundamental compatibility conditions previously derived for smooth weights. If the weight is a product of an absolutely continuous reference weight w0 ...
متن کاملLinear Statistics of Point Processes via Orthogonal Polynomials
For arbitrary β > 0, we use the orthogonal polynomials techniques developed in [10, 11] to study certain linear statistics associated with the circular and Jacobi β ensembles. We identify the distribution of these statistics then prove a joint central limit theorem. In the circular case, similar statements have been proved using different methods by a number of authors. In the Jacobi case these...
متن کاملOrthogonal Polynomials
The theory of orthogonal polynomials plays an important role in many branches of mathematics, such as approximation theory (best approximation, interpolation, quadrature), special functions, continued fractions, differential and integral equations. The notion of orthogonality originated from the theory of continued fractions, but later became an independent (and possibly more important) discipl...
